Dr. Ruben Karapetyan is a seasoned diplomat, historian, author. For almost 30 years of diplomatic activities, he represented Armenia in dozens of countries of the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa and different international organizations. From 2004-2013 Ruben Karapetyan’s Ambassadorial postings included Egypt, Morocco, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Africa, Libya, as well as Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Croatia and Malta. He was the First Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the League of Arab States and the First Permanent Observer of the Republic of Armenia to the African Union (2007-2009). He served as Adviser to the Foreign Minister (2019—2020) and as Diplomatic Adviser to the President of Armenia (2020—2022).
He holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia. Ruben Karapetyan is a Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor. He lectures International Relations, World Politics and Geopolitics at the Yerevan State University (YSU) & Russian-Armenian University (RAU). Prof. Karapetyan is a member of different Scientific Councils within National Academy of Sciences, RAU & YSU. He is an Honorary President of the Armenian Historical Society & Distinguished Professor of the RAU. He authored 7 books including the «History of Modern Arab World» textbook for University students, as well as multiple scientific articles related to International Relations in the Middle East and Geopolitics of the South Caucasus.
